How to change nameservers
Use the exact nameservers shown for your hosting or DNS service. Review website and email records before changing DNS authority.
Nameservers decide which DNS service controls your website, email, and verification records. Changing them does not move website files or email messages, but it changes where the internet looks for their DNS records.
Find the correct nameservers
Open the relevant Nakroteck hosting or domain service and use the nameservers shown there. Different servers and DNS services can have different assigned nameservers, so do not copy values from an unrelated account or an old guide.
Review the current DNS zone first
- Record the current A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, and SRV values you still need.
- Confirm the destination DNS zone contains the website and email records before switching.
- Pay special attention to MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to avoid interrupting email.
Change a domain managed in Nakroteck
- Go to Client Area > Domains.
- Open the domain.
- Click Nameservers.
- Choose the assigned Nakroteck nameservers or enter the exact custom nameservers supplied by the destination DNS service.
- Save the change.
Change a domain managed elsewhere
Sign in where the domain is currently managed and replace the nameservers with the values assigned to your Nakroteck service. If the external account does not expose that setting, contact its support team.
Verify the change
Check the domain's authoritative NS records after saving. Some networks update quickly while others continue using cached information. Read DNS propagation explained for timing and verification steps.
If the website or email stops working
Compare the destination DNS zone with the before-state you recorded. If essential records are missing, add them to the authoritative DNS service. When a safe correction is not possible, restore the former nameservers and contact support with the domain and expected DNS records.
