Restoring from a daily backup

Shared & WordPress Hosting 4 views 1 min read Updated 7 hours ago
Quick Answer

Roll your site back to an earlier day if something goes wrong. Daily backups are included on every shared plan.

We run a daily backup of every shared and WordPress hosting plan and keep the last 14 copies. Here is how to roll back.

Restore from cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open JetBackup or Backup Wizard (depending on the server).
  3. Pick the date you want to restore from.
  4. Choose what to restore: Full account, Home directory only, Databases only, or a single file.
  5. Click Restore. The job usually finishes in a few minutes and emails you when done.

Restore from Plesk

  1. Open Plesk, then Backup Manager.
  2. Open the backup for the date you want.
  3. Pick the objects to restore (mail, databases, site files) and click Restore.

Prefer to restore just one file

You do not have to roll back the whole site. Both JetBackup and Plesk Backup Manager let you browse inside a backup and pull out a single file or folder. Useful when a plugin breaks one page but the rest of the site is fine.

If the backup you need is older than 14 days

Open a support ticket. We keep longer-term snapshots on a separate system and can sometimes recover from further back.
